AWESOME Incorporated Mentoring, Educating, and Nurturing (MEN)

The MEN program targets boys between the ages of ten through eighteen years of age. The program focuses on decision-making and goal setting, tobacco, drug and alcohol prevention, life-skills classes in a positive group setting /forum. The program recognizes the importance of helping young males understand how to identify ways and the necessary tools needed to make right choices so that they can grow into our future leaders of tomorrow. The program uses journal writing, Boys2Men group forums, role-playing, rap sessions and other creative techniques that encourage the development of a positive sense of self.

AWESOME Incorporated Girls Empowered and Motivated to Succeed (GEMS)

The GEMS program targets girls between the ages of ten through eighteen years of age. . The program emphasizes positive decision-making and goal setting, tobacco, drug and alcohol prevention, positive self-image and exploration using creative expressions through the arts. The program recognizes the importance of helping girls reflect about themselves and identifying creative ways to express their feelings. The program use poetry, journal writing, drama, role playing, dance and speak –out sessions and other creative techniques that encourage the development of a positive sense of self.

Voices of Young America (VOYA)
Production Academy
The Production Academy create a hands-on program that teaches teens, ages 13-18, how to express themselves using video cameras, lighting equipment, sound and acting. Most of all, the teens will leave with a better sense of teamwork, planning, communications skills, technical skills and production skills.
The first rotation will began October 16, 2004 and will last for six months on every other Saturday 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The Youth will learn all aspects of video and film production from pre-production to final edit. They will have a platform to communicate and express their concerns with: STDs, smoking, AIDS, violence and other health and social illnesses. These concerns will be expressed through Public Service Announcements, short documentaries, commercials and etc.
