AWESOME Incorporated Girls Empowered and Motivated to Succeed (GEMS)

The GEMS program targets girls between the ages of ten through eighteen years of age. The program emphasizes positive decision-making and goal setting, tobacco, drug and alcohol prevention, positive self-image and exploration using creative expressions through the arts. The program recognizes the importance of helping girls reflect about themselves and identifying creative ways to express their feelings. The program use poetry, journal writing, drama, role playing, dance and speak –out sessions and other creative techniques that encourage the development of a positive sense of self.
